Experience and Equivalency Class 1 Mandatory Entry-Level Training
Program Overview
The purpose of this standard is to ensure that applicants possess the basic knowledge and driving skills to safely operate a commercial vehicle that requires a Class 1 driver’s licence to operate on Alberta roads.
Prerequisites for the course
- 18 years of age or older
- Hold a full class 3 licence and be verified by application through Alberta Transportation
- Class 1 Medical Certificate (Recommended before registering)
What is included in the course?
- 24 hours of private driving instruction in truck.
- 11 hours in the classroom.
- 6.5 hours in yard training.
- Tractor-trailer for the driving test.
How long is the course?
Average of 2 weeks.
How do I get financial aid?
How many road test vehicles are included?
1 attempt/class 1 vehicle, permits extra paid to the registry.
How many tests can I take?
There is no limit.
Any possibility of job opportunities after attaining the truck driving license?
